Martha jones: first black doctor who companion …..ran away

She didnt run. She walked away from it all for her own safety and sanity. She did the smart thing.

You would’ve preferred her to die in another time or live in a parallel world AFTER her family had been subjugated to horrible conditions for a year under the master?

They would cheer the fuck out of her being killed. The fandom hated her.

It’s telling that in the Sherlock and Doctor Who fandoms (which often and do inter-lap), the two least liked characters - Martha Jones and Sally Donovan - are both Black women and the second least liked is Mickey Smith, a Black man.

Ah, Martha Jones bashing. A surefire way to test for a person’s intelligence.

The OP put up a bad quality picture of Dr Jones and a snide remark, so already I know that they’re not the sweetest cookie in the tin. It’s so obvious that Martha did not run away. We’re talking about the woman who walked the earth for a year, for goodness sake.

Martha leaving the Doctor out of her own free will, in recognition of the toxic environment she’d been living in and the desire for a better life - and understanding that a spectacular life of time and space travel is not necessarily a good life - is one of the best highlights for me of not only the revamped series, but of the whole 50 years. The Doctor was downright cruel to her at times, and later episodes so that she went on to blossom into a magnificent leader, warrior, healer and woman. (A part of me was disappointed that her and Mickey didn’t make a reappearance in the 50th special, but I understand that they’ve both left UNIT. Mores the pity.)

A lot more people can say this - and have said this - in a much better way than me, so I’m going to be blunt. The fandom did not hate her. Petty, loud mouthed factions did. She was not a terrible or flat character and her story arc was compelling and made sense.
(And lets not forget the fact that River Song, the Doctor’s wife, had to carve a signal into a mountain’s side to get his attention.
Martha Jones got him back to Earth with one phone call.)
In conclusion. Martha Jones is wonderful and I would give anything for a Smith and Jones spin off.
And OP? You are racist. No other way around it.

the other day in english we were looking at this sonnet Shakespeare wrote about his mistress who was presumably black because he says she has dark skin and wiry hair and pale lips

and this kid asked “is the girl he’s talking about black”

and my teacher started stuttering and was like “ummm well i suppose you could interpret this as her being african american” and i started cackling really loud because there are no african americans in 15th century england

Martha Jones is not African American.
